As someone with an online platform, I want you to know this is what I stand for.
Number One: Prioritize Disabled People
I do not support any particular political party. I’m registered as unaffiliated because I’m a single issue voter asking one question: what is their stance on disability?
What I care about most are disabled people. I prioritize disabled people first. Always. In everything. It will literally fix everything wrong with the world. Look up the “cut curb effect” if you’re not familiar.
I will always vote for, donate to, and support whatever is best for disabled people as decided by disabled people for themselves.
Number Two: Save the Bees & Trees
Whatever is best for the environment in the long term, let’s do that.
I want future generations to have old growth trees, clean oceans, cool animals, and breathable air!
And - this is something I get really passionate about - SAVE THE POLLINATORS.
That’s bees but also wasps, moths, butterflies, beetles, and other insects along with secondary pollinators like birds and bats!
For that reason, lawn grass is horrible. I think it should be rare and mostly limited to shared public spaces. I am judging you for spraying herbicides and insecticides on your lawn.
If I could, I would plant pollinator gardens in 90% of the places we have lawn grass right now.
Number Three: Billionaires Should Not Exist
We are living in the Pixar “Bug’s Life” movie.
There’s 1,135 grasshopper billionaires being served by 350 million ant citizens in the United States.
I’m determined that in my lifetime we will see a class consciousness revolution so billionaires no longer exist.
Number Four: Return Colonized Land
I support the Land Back movement.
Indigenous people should be leading any decisions about what is happening to their land.
In every room, at every table, part of every conversation, and a share of every tax.
Colonization is a form of genocide and (it should be obvious but I’m going to say it anyway) genocide is wrong.
My understanding of what land back can look like has been shaped by my Métis & Mi’kmaq best friend who lives on unceded territory in Nova Scotia, Canada.
The Canadian government has honored the treaties made with those Indigenous people and I think the United States government should honor the treaties made here. That’s land back, in my opinion.
Returning colonized land includes Free Palestine, F*ck ICE, and Black Lives Matter.
In Conclusion
I think a poor, old, fat, disabled, queer, Black trans woman will have better ideas about how to solve society's problems than a rich, young, thin, non-disabled, straight, white cis man.
The oppressed are the best experts on their oppressors because that information is vital to their survival.
I think the only way to solve our current unprecedented problems is to listen to the people most directly experiencing those problems.
I’m glad you’re here!
Warmly,
